The Crisscross Binding was developed by designer Anne Goy and borrows elements from both Japanese Side Stab bindings and European-stylebindings. This book structure is unique in that the front cover can be flipped completely behind the back cover creating a flat drawing surface while not putting strain on the gutter of the bookblock.
